Our ministry begins in our congregation.
The mission of Creation Stewardship is to lead the church in becoming good stewards of God’s creation. As such, we are concerned with sustainable life choices affecting ourselves, our communities and nation as well as the rest of the planet. If future generations are to enjoy the same ecosystem services that we enjoy and that are the basis of our existence, such as clean air and water and global temperatures moderated within historical limits, we need to control our emissions of air and water pollutants as well as greenhouse gases. Renewable forms of energy, such as solar, wind and geothermal, are preferable to the burning of fossil fuels: gas, oil and coal. We endeavor to educate ourselves and others in making intelligent choices through regular potluck/film showings, promoting sustainability practices within our own church, Earth Day activities, and special events held throughout the year.
This group meets monthly for conversation on the spiritual, ethical, faith, and relationship issues arising from the viewing of a major motion picture. Participants see the selected film on their own and then gather at the Fought/Price home on the third Saturday of each month. Come to discuss and share your personal insights and experiences. Contact our church office for more information.
Stephen Ministries is a lay caring ministry that serves church members who have experienced some kind of loss in their lives - be it job loss, divorce, or any other type of family or other difficulty. All Stephen Ministers are specially trained and their training is on-going on a bi-weekly basis in consultation with the pastor. All discussions about Stephen Ministers and care-receivers are held in the strictest confidence. No names of care-receivers are ever given. If a care-receiver chooses to share the information with others, that is up to the individual. It is never revealed by the Stephen Minister.
Stephen Ministers are not psychotherapists or doctors. The goal for the care-receiver is to reach a solution to his or her problem through discussion and listening and mutual support to meet his or her needs. A Stephen Minister can help allay fears of being alone or unneeded in a difficult time.
On-going continuing education and peer supervision give the ministers an opportunity to receive guidance from the pastor and the other Stephen Ministers, as well as outside experts. Go to www.stephenministries.org for more general information about this ministry.
